Wendy’s recently started a new brand collaboration with Spongebob Squarepants with their new ‘Krabby Patty Kollab Meal.’ The meal features a ‘Krabby Patty,’ your choice of a drink, or a Frosty with pineapple syrup and fries. With the meal, they also include a sticker sheet with nine stickers that are Spongebob and Wendy’s themed. On this sticker sheet, there is also a QR code that offers a free 30-day trial of Paramount+.
The first thing I ate was a highly anticipated item called the ‘Under the Sea Pineapple Frosty.’ I was surprised to find out when ordering that it is a regular Frosty with pineapple sauce. I was offered the option of a chocolate or vanilla Frosty with the sauce and I decided to try the vanilla option. All of the sauce was put at the bottom with the vanilla ice cream on top, making me have to stir it.
This was a difficult task as I struggled with trying to stir it while also not spilling it. Once I finally tried it, I found myself disappointed. It wasn’t a bad Frosty, but it was just a vanilla frosty with a hint of artificial pineapple. It did taste alright when a fry was dipped in it, but I think I’ll stick to my chocolate Frosty with fries.
I began eating my burger once I was about half finished with the Frosty. I tried a bit of the sauce on its own from the wrapper. It was a pretty good sauce, tasting similar to Raising Cane’s secret sauce, but with a tangy hint of something like mustard or Worcestershire.
The burger itself was pretty generic aside from Wendy’s signature square patty. It included cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and of course the secret sauce. When I took a bite of the burger as a whole, I was disappointed. It just tasted like a normal Wendy’s burger, the flavor of the secret sauce being drowned out by the rest of the burger.
The price overall for the meal isn’t too expensive, being $8.69 for the whole meal, $5.39 for the burger, and $1.69-3.49 for the Frosty depending on the size you get. It is cheaper than a comparable meal, ‘Dave’s Combo,’ which is $9.49.
Overall, if your typical order is gonna be a Dave’s Combo, I’d recommend giving the Krabby Patty Kollab meal a shot. It was a solid meal, but I would not get either the burger or the Frosty again. I’ll be sticking to my Baconator and chocolate Frosty.
