News Reaction Column: Coronavirus school closings

According to USA Today, so far six states, as well as several large city districts, have announced the closure of K-12 schools. The closing of schools, especially in states with few known cases of the Coronavirus, seems to be mostly a precaution. State officials are attempting to contain the virus before it has the chance to spread and become uncontrollable. After seeing how other countries are faring, the United States is preventing and containing, in hopes to avoid massive amounts of people being affected. Cases of the Coronavirus have risen to only about 1500, and no children in the United States have died from it so, as of now, people shouldn’t panic. If the number of cases continue to rise and worsen rapidly in the United States, then there is cause for concern.
