The OHSAA has announced its plan for spring sports that were expected to be played during the COVID-19 outbreak.

If schools return to school on May 4, then spring sports will play a shortened season upon returning to school until mid to late June.

Teams will get one week (May 4 to May 8) to practice and readjust to playing. After that initial week, they will begin contests on May 9. Tournaments for each sport will being around mid June.

In an email to spring athletes, athletic director Wes Elifritz said the OCC will be drawing up tentative schedules for each sport if school goes back in session on May 4.

If the suspension of in person classes is extended through the end of the 2019-2020 school year, the OHSAA says no spring sports will be played this year.

Additionally, Elifritz said senior banners for spring athletes have been ordered and will be placed in the Jim McCann stadium for viewing.

The district has also decided to waive all fees for spring extracurriculars. Reimbursement checks will be sent to those who already paid their pay to play fees.
