Amidst COVID-19 concerns, many spring sports have been canceled or postponed, including Boys Tennis.

Senior Jeffrey Evans is a varsity tennis player that has played for four years. He became interested in tennis due to the influence of his older brothers.

“It was my freshman year when I played with my older brother [Justin Evans], I was in JV at the time when I went down to watch him play every game,” Evans said.

According to coach.nine.com, tennis players don’t have an offseason. As a result, they have to stay game-ready all year.

This is done by having short and intense training sessions with careful respect for normal rest periods between games. For example. There are normally 20 seconds between points and 90 seconds between games.

“[If I could change one thing it would be] our hard drills that we do for practice every day,” Evans said.

Coaches work closely with players to ensure that they are prepared for the high-intensity of tennis.

“The interaction with the coaches it’s really nice to be apart of such a great small team,” Evans said.
