Disney stars remain ‘all in this together’ during isolation

On April 16, stars from across the U.S. joined together for Disney’s Family Sing Along, an hour long event where stars sang their favorite Disney tunes from their homes to support Feeding America. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, Disney fans across the country enjoyed an hour of laughs, love and nostalgia with some of their favorite songs.

Special appearances were made by Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Thomas Rhett and included an unannounced performance of “When You Wish Upon A Star” by Beyonce.

As promised by Seacrest, before the show closed, old and new Disney stars united for a rendition of “We’re All In This Together” from the 2006 Disney hit High School Musical. The performance included original cast members Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel for an East High reunion. Cameos were also made by Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson from Descendants, That’s So Raven star Raven Symone and many other Disney stars. The new generation of Disney was even represented, as the stars of the new Disney+ hit High School Musical: The Musical: The Series made an appearance, including fan favorite Joshua Bassett, who sang Troy Bolton’s parts.

However, a proper Wildcat reunion wouldn’t be complete without the original Troy Bolton. Zac Efron himself made an appearance during the special, and while he didn’t sing due to “spotty WiFi,” he introduced the cast of High School Musical and director Kenny Ortega in a low quality video from where he’s “hunkered down in the middle of nowhere.”

Efron provided words of positivity, saying that he hoped everyone is “doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times.” He went on to introduce the musical number, saying “it is my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends and some new ones. I hope you enjoy, and remember: we’re all in this together.”

The Disney Family Sing Along premiered on ABC on April 16 at 8 pm EST/9 pm PST and performances can be found on YouTube and abc.com
