Maui feels the wrath of wildfires

Wildfires+engulf+towns+in+Maui.+Residents+are+forced+to+evacuate.
USA Today
Wildfires engulf towns in Maui. Residents are forced to evacuate.

There were more than 200 wildfires that spread through Northwest Territories in Hawaii. Residents had to leave their homes for an emergency evacuation. The government evacuated more than 3,000 people by buses and planes.

Smoke was seen from around the islands in the Northwest Territories. Four people have died  so far. The fire burned more than 137,000square feet of area. They can get very big. Some burn areas up to,the size of England or the state of Alabama.

The winds in Maui were really bad, the city was blazed by the fire the wind carried. People were unable to return to their homes because of how bad the damage was. There were at least four firefighters that died to save others. Most people’s lungs were damaged because of how strong the smoke was. This can weaken people’s immune systems in the long run. This also caused symptoms of coughing, nose running, and shortness of breath. These wildfires can be 10 times more harmful than the same type of pollution.
